Unmanned Aircraft Systems Middle School Camp

Camp overview

Campers will learn the key foundation of robotics and computer programming using the SCRATCH program. Students will learn basic engineering principles to control the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), and learn fundamental code writing skills to fly autonomously. Campers will learn about different applications of UAS through field trips and presentations.


Camp dates and hours

August 14 – 18, 2017

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM  

Campers may be dropped as early as 7:30 AM and MUST be picked up by 5:30 PM. 



10 – 13 years



The camp is offered free of cost to selected participants.   



Campers will eat lunch at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Dining Hall.  Please note any allergies on the Camp Application.



Please print out and complete the Camp Application.  You may scan and e-mail the application to Mayra.Alvarado@tamucc.edu or Fax it with Attention to Mayra Alvarado at 361-825-3056.  If sending by regular mail, please allow at least one-week so that application can be received by the due date. Only complete applications will be given consideration for camp participation.  Application due date: July 1, 2017.  Parents will be notified of applicant selection by the end of July.


Camp selection

Campers will be selected on a first come first served basis.


Rules to follow

  • Campers must wear comfortable clothing
  • Campers must wear closed toed shoes, flip-flops are NOT allowed
  • A light jacket is always handy as the room tends to feel cold at times
  • Please no electronics (cell phones, video games, etc.) during camp time
