Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb Declares Today, Jan. 10, Islanders Day

During a proclamation read at the Ortiz Center earlier this week, Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce declared today, Wednesday, Jan. 10, Islanders Day in honor of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders Men’s Basketball Team.

Islander ROTC Cadets Transition to Second Lieutenant During Commissioning Ceremony

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Army ROTC continues honoring and recognizing the effort and service of its Islander Battalion cadets. Following tradition, two new officers were proudly commissioned for their success in ROTC. The ceremony is a milestone for the ROTC graduates who make the transition from United States Army Cadet to Second Lieutenant. Since 1951, more than 170 cadets with affiliation to South Texas ROTC programs, including the Islander Battalion, have been commissioned to officer rank.

Lionfish Invasion: A&M-Corpus Christi Researchers Discover New Information on How it Happened

Initially, it was believed only nine to ten lionfish were introduced, but a study from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, titled “Simulations Indicate That Scores of Lionfish (Pterois volitans) Colonized the Atlantic Ocean,” shows the number of introduced lionfish could be closer to more than 180.

A&M-CC Professor Impacts Community Through On-Going Free Health Series
