Over the years the program has earned an excellent reputation for its training programs. This was recognized when the National Spill Control School was written into the OIL POLLUTION ACT OF 1990 (OPA90) as a training and research resource for the NATIONAL RESPONSE TEAM. The School was also recognized in 1998 by the TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE "IN RECOGNITION OF YOUR LEADERSHIP IN PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY OF TEXAS COASTAL WATERS". The responsibility that this recognition places on the National Spill Control School is taken seriously and every effort is made to maintain the quality of instruction that earned us our position as a leader in training of spill responders in the first place. The National Spill Control School is involved in a number of activities revolving around spill control. We conduct training also conduct courses in oil spill management, response, and safety. We conduct courses in hazardous material/waste management, and spill response and safety as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.120. We have a regular class calendar of courses offered at our facility on campus or on site at your facility. We provide teaching support and research opportunities in the Environmental Science degree programs here at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
