Applicants
• For academic year 2006-2007, 2,653 individuals applied for admission to the seventeen schools and colleges of optometry in the United States (including Puerto Rico).
• However, a total number of 6,887 applications were processed by the seventeen schools and colleges of optometry in the United States (including Puerto Rico) for the academic year 2006-2007 since many students apply to more than one institution.

Enrollment
• At the seventeen schools and colleges of optometry in the United States (including Puerto Rico), there were a total of 5,488 optometry students enrolled during the 2006-2007 academic year.
• On a 4.0 scale, the grade point average for the 2006 entering class ranged from a high of 3.64 to a low of 3.08 with a mean of 3.43.
• For the 2006-2007 academic year 64.2% of the body was female and 35.8% was male. In addition, the student body was 61.3% White American, 23.8% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 4.9% Hispanic or Latino, 3.2% African American, 0.5% American Indian or Alaskan Native, and 6.0% Other.

o Organic Chemistry
o Biochemistry
o Microbiology
o Statistics
o Psychology
