  Pre-requisites for Parker College in Dallas, Texas
  Sciences
  Selections for science courses should be from pre-chiropractic or pre-medical curricula recommended by the student’s  
  undergraduate institution(s). Grades earned in the sciences must not be lower than a “C” (2.0 on a 4.0 scale).
  Courses must also be completed in a logical sequence; for example, Organic Chemistry I should be followed with  
  Organic Chemistry II, where applicable. Survey and first term courses are considered duplicates.Online lab courses 
  cannot be used to meet the science prerequisites.The following is an update of the pre-requisites for

   Students with a professional degree in a health science discipline at the baccalaureate    level or above with an earned 
   cumulative grade point average of 2.50 may enter if their academic preparation substantially meets* admission
  requirements. Students with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with an earned cumulative 
   grade point average of 3.25 may enter if their academic preparation substantially meets* admission requirements. 
  
   * Substantially meets, by definition of Parker College of Chiropractic,means the following:

   - All science requirements as stated, with required labs, and a 2.0 grade point average

   - English as stated; OR 3 semester hours of English and 3 semester hours of literature, composition, or another
     communicative skill

    - 3 semester hours of any psychology course
    - At least 12 semester hours of humanities
    - Enough elective hours to meet the 90 semester hour requirement
    - The required degree listed on the transcript or verified by the college in writing 
  Admission Process for Parker College :
  1.Submit a complete application to the Admissions Office together with a non-refundable application fee of $50. 
     Your application fee is good for up to two years or six trimesters, after which you will be required to submit a
     new application fee. The fee is also required for applications submitted online at the Parker College website. 
     Please provide full addresses,alternate phone numbers such as a cell or beeper, and an email address, if available.    
  2. Arrange for all official transcripts from each school attended to be sent to the Admissions Office address, which is 2500 
      Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75229.These official transcripts must be sent directly from those institutions. 
      Student copies or opened transcripts issued to students will not be accepted. An unopened, sealed transcript can be sent    
      or brought to the office by the prospective student.

  3. Parker College requires three letters of recommendation, which should be sent directly from the individuals offering
      the recommendation to the Admissions Office. We recommend that one letter be from a Doctor of Chiropractic, but this   
      is not required. Letters from relatives are not acceptable for this purpose. We suggest student’s request four letters of
      recommendation to avoid delays in case one is not received. Letters of recommendationshould be received no less than
      30 days prior to Orientation Day.
  4. It is important that the prospective student always keep the Admissions Office updated on address, phone, and 
    email changes to avoid notification delays in the acceptance procedure. Email is often the fastest way to contact you
    regarding deficiencies in your file, so you should include an email address, if available, on your application, and notify
    us if the email address changes.
  5. If you are a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, a copy of your DD 214 must be provided to the College.

   Preliminary Requirements for Doctor of Chiropractic Program
A minimum of 90 hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required. Please note that only those courses in which the applicant received a grade of "C" or better are eligible for transfer. Successful applicants must have completed or be able to complete by the term of enrollment of the following courses:

Biological Science*

Two semesters or three quarters with laboratory; minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours required
General biology, zoology, anatomy and physiology acceptable; botany acceptable but not recommended
General Inorganic Chemistry1:
Two semesters or three quarters with laboratory in sequence, acceptable for preprofessional majors Minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours required.

Organic Chemistry*

Two semesters or three quarters with laboratory in sequence, acceptable for preprofessional level.
Minimum of six semester hours or nine quarter hours required.

General Physics*

One semester or three quarters with laboratory in sequence, trigonometry based or at a preprofessional level.
Minimum of three semester hours or nine quarter hours required.

English or Communications Skills*: 6 semester hours required.

Psychology*: 3 semester hours required.

Social Sciences/Humanities Electives*: 15 semester hours required.

Electives1: Remaining hours to meet the 90 hour prerequisite requirement.

History, government, English, literature, foreign language, sociology, psychology, drama, philosophy, business and/or marketing. A course in public speaking especially recommended.

NOTE: In addition to above 15 semester hours of social sciences and humanities, course work in computer skills and statistics is strongly recommended.
