Research Summary

Dr. Samocha's research areas are concentrated on induced maturation and spawning of penaeid shrimp, larval nutritional requirements, intensive nursery and grow-out systems for under, limited discharge in ambient and low salinity water. Studying the nutritional requirements of juvenile and subadult shrimp with an emphasis on development of diet with no fishmeal or fish oil components. And finally, the development of sustainable food shrimp and the live bait shrimp industries in Texas.
