National Spill Control School receives Oil Spill Prevention and Response Award
One of six other award recipients this year, The National Spill Control School (NSCS) was recognized for its 30 years of outstanding environmental protection and safety training and education of emergency responders in Texas, the U.S. and around the world. The NSCS began teaching oil spill response classes in 1977, adding hazmat/waste classes in 1980, OSHA HAZWOPER in 1989 and ICS and Spill Management Team training in 1995. Over the years, the program has earned an excellent reputation for its training programs. The NSCS is involved in a number of activities revolving around spill control. The school conducts training as well as courses in oil spill management, hazardous material/waste management, and spill response and safety. They offer a regular class calendar of courses at their facility on campus or at industrial sites. They also provide teaching support and research opportunities in the Environmental Science degree programs on campus.
