Dr. Overath is the 2008 SACNAS Distinguished Undergraduate Institution Mentor Awardee
The SACNAS Liasons and Awards Committee named Dr. Deborah Overath the 2008 Distinguished Undergraduate Institution Mentor. Overath is an Assistant Professor of Biology in A&M-Corpus Christi's College of Science & Technology.
SACNAS, the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science, is a Santa Cruz, CA based organization dedicated to encouraging Chicano/Latino and Native American students to pursue graduate education and obtain the advanced degrees necessary for science research, leadership, and teaching careers at all levels.
Overath was nominated by Casandra Hernandez, a Senior Biology major at A&M-Corpus Christi from San Marcos, TX.
Dr. Overath's award includes an invitation to the 2008 SACNAS National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah going on October 9-12. During the conference's opening ceremony, Overath is to be presented her award by SACNAS President Aaron Velasco.
