Grants for Undergraduate Research And Faculty students working in labDevelopment

We have several externally funded grants to train undergraduate researchers and to provide faculty development. Undergraduate students learn hands-on, authentic research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.  Students receive a stipend, funding for lab supplies and travel expenses to present their research at a regional or national conference.  Students apply to become undergraduate researchers by visiting our website (http://www.sci.tamucc.edu/prepro/UGApplication/UGResearchApp.htm) and submitting an online application.  In addition to the research experience, undergraduate researchers also participate in professional development workshops on career preparation, GRE preparation, ethics, and the responsible conduct of research.

The Office of Research Development (http://www.sci.tamucc.edu/ord/), funded by the National Institutes of Health, helps faculty increase their competitiveness for federal grants.  The office sponsors workshops on grantsmanship and awards $40,000 annually for pilot projects.
