Total of $35,000 available in FY09 ($31K for FY09 and $4K earmarked only for Summer 09) Graduate students only.  Applicants must have minimum GPA of 3.0 and be admitted to a graduate program in S&T.  S&T College Scholarship Committee, although in the future some funds may be designated for award by individual programs. Office of Graduate Studies and Reseach March 15 for Fall semester scholarships; Oct. 31 for Spring and Summer.

Coastal Conservation Association
Scholarship

$5,000 per academic year ($2500.00 per semester). Award is for “graduate career,” defined a 2 years for M.S. students and 4 years for Ph.D. students, so award is not available each year.

Full-time graduate student in Life Sciences or Physical and Environmental Sciences Departments with research emphasis in marine fisheries; also must be (1) citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., (2) pursuing graduate degree with specific research focus on marine fisheries, and (3) in good academic standing with a 3.5 minimum graduate GPA. David May Marine Memorial
Scholarship
Several $100-$200 scholarships awarded annually Graduate or undergraduates enrolled in Coral Reef Ecology, to help offset field trip fee for the course Center for Coastal Studies Kim Withers, Scholarship Selection Committee Chair, Center for Coastal Studies March 1 (or the following Monday if a weekend)

Karen Dodson Memorial Scholarship One $500-$1000 scholarship awarded annually Graduate students in LSCI or PENS engaged in coral reef research.  Primarily to offset travel to a field site; may also be applied to offset costs of Coral Reef Ecology field trip fee depending on  research proposed for course project Center for Coastal Studies Kim Withers, Scholarship Selection Committee Chair, Center for Coastal Studies Oct 1 (thesis research) or March 1 (coral reef ecology field trip) or the following Monday if a weekend.

Millicent Quammen Memorial Scholarship One $500-$1000 scholarship given annually. Full-time masters degree students in coastal and marine science fields in LSCI or PENS Depts.  To assist students in attending a scientific meeting, field trip, other beneficial opportunities, or to purchase research equipment.  Center for Coastal Studies Kim Withers, Scholarship Selection Committee Chair, Center for Coastal Studies Oct. 1 (or the following Monday if a weekend)

Hans and Patricia Suter Endowment Several $500-$1000 scholarships given annually. Full-time masters degree students in coastal and marine science fields in LSCI or PENS Depts.  To support environmental research activities focused on coastal zone of Texas.  Center for Coastal Studies Kim Withers, Scholarship Selection Committee Chair, Center for Coastal Studies Oct. 1 (or the following Monday if a weekend)

Henry Hildebrand Endowed Scholarship One $500-$1000 scholarship given annually. Full-time masters degree students in coastal and marine science fields in LSCI or PENS Depts.  To support research in marine, coastal and estuarine sciences.  Center for Coastal Studies Kim Withers, Scholarship Selection Committee Chair, Center for Coastal Studies Oct. 1 (or the following Monday if a weekend)

Snyder Award $20,000 available in FY09. GSEN majors only.  3.0 minimum GPA. Must be enrolled as full-time graduate student. Blucher Institute TAMUCC Scholarships Office Apply in Fall of academic year in which funding is sought.  Awards made retroactively in January to full academic year.

Supports research in malacology, at  private and public Texas institutions Annual stipends are awarded to a graduate student studying molluscan phylogeny, ecology, physiology, etc. funds may help defray travel and research expenses. Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundations Scholars for Environmental Research Award   Masters graduate students pursuing research that may involve public policy to help increase society's understanding of environmental problems and their solutions. Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation

Nueces County Medical Society and Alliance Centennial Scholarship Endowment “Stephanie’s Song” Scholarship   Undergraduate or graduate single female student over 35 interested in cancer prevention and majoring in  Nursing, Premed, Biology, Chemistry,
Graduate of a Nueces Co. high school or a resident of Nueces County for more than 5 yrs.   Students may be full-time or part-time. Incoming freshman must be in the top 25% of high school class; all other students must maintain overall GPA of at least 3.0.
