Graduate Student Funding Opportunities

A limited number of fellowships, research assistantships and teaching assistantships are available to students through the College, the Office of Graduate Studies and Research and affiliated research centers and institutes. To be eligible for an assistantship or fellowship an applicant must be eligible for Graduate School enrollment and is required to be admitted to a specific graduate degree program. Transient students and non-Degree Seeking students are not eligible. Applicants admitted conditionally because they lack foundational coursework are also eligible, but students admitted conditionally because their application is not complete or they do not meet other criteria for regular admission are not eligible.

Information and applications for assistantships may be obtained from Dr. Jennifer Smith-Engle, College of Science and Technology, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, 6300 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 or by downloading from this page.

All applications for either teaching or graduate research assistantships with specific faculty members should be submitted to:

More Information on Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships

Students are usually given graduate assistantships in the programs from which they are seeking a degree. They are expected to work 20 hours per week during the regular semester or summer session in which they hold a graduate assistantship. They may not hold a concurrent graduate work-study position or another graduate assistantship.

Stipends for graduate assistants may vary depending on the graduate level of the applicant, the credentials of the applicant, and the service to be rendered. Out-of-state fees will be waived for the regular semester or summer session during which a student holds an assistantship, and graduate assistants are entitled to health care benefits.

Graduate Assistants must be enrolled for not less than six (6) semester hours of credit toward their graduate degrees during a regular semester and not less than three (3) hours of credit during a summer session. Reappointment is contingent upon continued eligibility for graduate enrollment, satisfactory progress toward meeting degree requirements, and satisfactory performance of duties.
