Overview: This course component is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of natural selection.

What survival problems would you have to solve if you were stranded on a desert island for a few weeks?
Objectives: After completing this unit, students will be able to:
1. List the "requirements" for natural selection to occur.
2. Explain the mechanism for natural selection.
3. Identify examples of natural selection and distinguish them from examples of Lamarckian thinking.
