Introduction to Periodic Trends "Lego® my Periodic Table"
The Introduction to Periodic Trends Course Component is designed to
facilitate an understanding of the relationship between reactivity of
the elements and their positions on the periodic table. The activities
included in the Course Component require students to:
- develop an understanding of periodicity of the elements,
- apply this understanding to the periodic table and
- predict and evaluate the formation of compounds based on the
periodicity of the elements.

The student is expected to develop an appreciation of the arrangement
of elements in the periodic table. During the activities associated with
the Course Component, students will: clarify their understanding of
the periodicity of the elements, predict the probable reactivity of
the elements, and predict and evaluate the molecular formulas of
compounds.
The overall time frame for the Course Component is approximately one,
fifty-minute class.
