Courage, Conviction, and Composition: The American Experience to the Civil War
Learning Community Theme
Learning Community E (LCE) has been designed to provide you with an integrated learning experience. This means that you will be learning about history, writing, and the business of being a college freshman in all of your LCE courses. Composition, Courage, and Conviction is the theme for our learning community for Spring 2018. Looking back in time, we will find ways to apply this theme to the men and women you study in Dr. Wooster’s class. Examining the present, we will find to ways to apply this theme to your personal experiences as a novice writer/learner encountering new writing situations and tasks. By the semester’s end, you should have a rich understanding of what composition, courage, and conviction means, both historically and personally.

Topic Five tips to do well in Ms. Burnett's class
1.) GO TO CLASS. Prove that you took her class!
2.) Prof. Burnett uses wiki and Blackboard. You will need to be familiar with both. ASK FOR HELP WHEN NEEDED! :)
3.) Prof. Burnett is an awesome writing prof and you should definitely avail yourself of her office hours. (We also have shared office hours at the same time. Need to see us both ? We can do that!)
4.) In class, don't be intimated to contribute to discussions on complex, controversial issues. These issues have historical roots, she is merely trying to help you make connections between the past and present.
5.) Do your reading and research!(It will help you become a more informed and responsible citizen.)
Note: Life is all about grappling with change, folks. Professor Burnett and I use wiki as our primary means to distribute information about the learning community. Embrace it!
