Primary Source Analysis

Activity #5-Rhetorical Situation, Part 1

This activity is designed to get you actively evaluating and assessing your primary source document. Additionally, you can use the writing you do for this activity as content for your Writing Project 3 - Critical Analysis II.

Please create a one page response to the following:

Explain the relationship that existed between the rhetor, the primary source document, and the intended audience. Also, explain how the rhetor used writing to influence his or her audience with word choice and rhetorical appeals - ethos (character and credibility), pathos (emotion), and logos (reason and logic).

Provide evidence in your response from your primary source document. Please use a combination of direct quotes and paraphrasing. Quote only one sentence at a time. Cite your quotations.
