Okay, I took some time to read the Sociology textbook. Here is the definition I crafted for ascribed status.

A status is a position that a person holds in society that shapes identity and defines our relationship to others. An ascribed status is a particular type of status that is given to person at birth. Specifically, an ascribed status is not chosen or earned by an individual. It is bestowed. For instance, I was born a Mexican-American female. My gender and my ethnicity are ascribed statuses. An individual whose ascribed statuses are male and anglo most likely will have more opportunities in our society than me because anglo men in our society are favored over women of color. A person can hold many different statuses and statuses can change over time.
