Welcome to Triad E!!
My name is Crystal Ballard and I am a third year (yes, third year) graduate student here at TAMUCC. I'm going to show you a little presentation in a bit so that you can get to know me better.
But first!!..... Why are you here and WTHeck is Seminar???
Now, that you know me....I'd like to get to know you!
When you entered the classroom, you were given a small bag of M&Ms. One by one, you will open your bag and pour three-four M&Ms out. Open with your name and major then tell us information about yourself according to the M&M colors you poured into your hand. The rest of the M&Ms you can DEVOUR!
Red - Something interesting about your hometown
Yellow - Favorite type(s) of music (Genre, artists, songs)
Blue - Place(s) you would love to visit on vacation
Green - You're stranded on a deserted island... What possessions would you want with you until help arrived?
Orange - You just won $33 million in the lottery... What would you do with the money?
Brown - Something interesting about you (Fact: Almost 1/3 of the M&Ms produced are brown so be prepared for this one!)
On the index cards I handed to you please tell me your...
- High School and Hometown
- One or two sentences telling me why you are in college. Also, what are you most concerned with entering your first year of college?
- One or two sentences telling me a few main goals you have while in college and where you see yourself in five years.
NO SEMINAR ON FRIDAYS!! However, you do have class in both History and Composition.
There will be a reading assignment for Dr. Wooster on Friday in Give Me Liberty. Do not wait until Friday morning to read! Start today and be sure to take notes. Next week (Wednesday) we will be discussing some BEST PRACTICES on both reading and taking notes for large lecture and Composition.
On Monday, you will be exploring the TAMUCC campus. Be sure to look over The Amazing Race rules this weekend which is located in the class plans section of my wiki page. Wear comfortable shoes if possible!!
Girls Night Out Tuesday, Sept. 1st - Keynote speaker: Beth Holloway, mother of Natalee Holloway. Natalee disappeared while on a high school graduation trip in Aruba 10 years ago. There will also be a speaker from MD Anderson, Dr. Mary Tripp, discussing the dangers of skin cancer caused by sun exposure. A third presentation will be from our division of safety, consent & bystander intervention - "Safety Selfie." There will be giveways, food, and t-shirts/gift bags given to the first 500 students.
Blue books ASAP!! Bring me three blue books by Monday, September 21st for Dr. Wooster's exams.
