Every topic has multiple perspectives. We all come from different backgrounds and going to have a different viewpoint on topics/issues. We are going to see things differently.

Right now in History you are learning about slavery. What are the different perspectives around that topic?
Let's list some !

This has always been a sensitive topic. The founding fathers did not even want to mention it in the Constitution.(What did they call it again?) Some of us may not even begin to be able to understand some those listed perspectives. Today, we are going to try.

Slavery, for instance, can be examined from the point of view of the slave, the slave owner, an abolitionist, or other non-slave owning person. To help you with understanding not only slavery, but the multiple perspectives involved in your composition research we will explore short selections of some readings and reflect on these ideas.

In groups, you will examine writings about slavery.
