The Panhandle was developed largely by migrants from Kansas. Midwestern farmers came to this region by advancing railroads form Kansas City. This region shares similar religious views as West Texas, which is Bible-based fundamentalism. The main resources used in the Panhandle are crops such as wheat, grains, cotton, as well as livestock. Also, the Ogallala Aquifer is an important reservoir and source of water for irrigation . This aquifer is critical to the economic future because it will help maintain the main resources, such as livestock and agriculture.
