Good Day!

Objectives:

Thomas Paine

A Renegade of his time and age...

"Now renegades are the people with their own philosophies
They change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me
We're the renegades we're the people
     With our own philosophies
We change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me" - "Renegades of Funk"

Applying Benjamin Franklin's Writing Process to Common Sense

"Extremely ambitious" to become a good writer, young Franklin made the Spectator the tutor he never had: he read an essay, abstracted it, and then rewrote the argument from the abstract, to see if he could improve on the original. To make his prose more lyrical, he then turned the essays into poetry, and back again" (The Story of America 50).
