A. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Support the operations of the Student Information Systems (Banner and SIS) for the office of Admission, Student Records, and Enrollment Management at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
This is a programmer analyst position requiring a broad base of programming and technical skills.
Major Duty: Support the Student Information System, SIS Plus, and,
Maintain the scheduling of nightly reports and programs for Admission and Records,
Verify that the nightly processing ran successfully by checking reports and output,
Identify any errors from nightly processing and produce error reports to the necessary department in Admission and Records,
Run reports and programs by request from the offices of Admission and Records, Enrollment Management, PIE (CBM), and Academic Testing,
Write reports by request for Admission, Student Records, and Enrollment Management,
Test TOS’es that pertains to Admissions and Student Records, Enrollment Management, CBM (PIE), and Academic Testing,
Modify COBOL programs to customize SIS Plus as requested,
Administrate the EDI.Smart application, and
i. Other duties as requested.
Major Duty: Implement and Support the Student Information System, Banner, and
Convert data for General Person, Admission, Faculty Load, General Student, and Academic History,
Convert data for Texas specific fields,
Modify Cobol conversion scripts to convert SIS data in steps (i) and (ii) as needed,
Create instructions on how to convert tables converted in conversion,
Contact the SCT Conversion Support team with issues encountered with conversion,
Contact the SCT action line with Banner issues,
Convert reports as needed for Admission, Student Records, and Enrollment Management,
Write reports as needed for Admission, Student Records, and Enrollment Management,
Analyze SIS stand alone applications that need converting to Banner,
Work with dba to resolve issues concerning Banner,
Setup EDI.Smart to work with Banner,
Setup up the upload of the Texas Common Application into Banner,
Create web forms in Web Tailor as needed for Student Self Service in Banner, and
n. Other duties as requested.
Major Duty: Create custom Web Tailor Forms for the Campus Community, and
Create new Web Tailor Forms for Student Self Service, and
Create new Web Tailor Forms for Faculty/Advisor Self Service,
Create custom Reports for the Campus Community,
Create data blocks using Argos, and
e. Create reports using Argos.
C. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education required: Bachelor’s degree and two years work experience.
System Analysis and Software Development,
Report writing & Interface development,
Oracle software suite,
SQL/PL-SQL, Java, PHP, C/C++/C#, HTML, Shell Scripting, ProCOBOL?
UNIX, ERP Student Information Systems (Banner or equivalent), and 3rd party SIS systems (Evisions, Degree Navigator, AppWorx?

E. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Implements, converts, and customizes ERP software specific to higher education,
Consults with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements, and
a. Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for administrative system
Writes and maintains functional and technical specifications, develops and maintains plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs,
Research and evaluate software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms,
Customizes and codes screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems,
Converts designs and specifications into computer code, and compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process,
Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications,
Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises programs. Consults with client to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs,
Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections,
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs, and
j. Train end users or technical support staff to use programs and monitor performance of programs after implementation.
G. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT:
Interact with all members of the university community and other external and internal individuals as needed to support the customer.
Daily contact with customers within the Admissions and Student Records department,
Contact with university academic offices in support of the student information system and 3rd Party supported systems, and
