Questions or comments for those of you who attended Tuesday's concert

In-Class:

Get out your reviews. Choose a partner and discuss what your review includes. Jot down answers for both of your reviews:

  • How is it structured?
  • Is it vague or detailed?
  • Does the writer presume a lot of background knowledge? How so?
  • What do they comment on? Be specific.
  • What do they leave out?
  • What question would you like the reviewer to have answered? (What would you like to have known?)
  • What is the language like? How does the writer praise the performers? How does she criticize them?

THEN -- shift gears and together, write a few lines explaining what you thought of the Epilogue to Benjamin's 'Work of Art in the Age . . . ' What is he suggesting?
