With a class partner, you will create a how-to document covering at least two elements from one of the software programs we are working with.

  • First, choose a partner to work with.
  • Then choose one of these software programs:
    • Bridge
    • Photoshop
    • Dreamweaver
    • Flash
    • Fireworks
    • Illustrator
    • InDesign
  • Groups will be 3 students, no more.
  • Groups will turn in a first and second choice for preferred program as programs will be randomly assigned.
  • You will have us create some type of end product for your how-to. The end product must fulfill some type of community need. A list of possible products to develop will be provided. For example, a previous group created a how-to for the Dreamweaver program and the end product was a new design for a campus group website.
  • The how-to should be visually appealing and easy to use for the reader. You should use the book as a model.
  • Use the wording from the book as you write the instructions, but make sure to provide an acknowledgement at the end of the instructions.
  • Groups will present the how-to instructions to the class on an assigned day.
  • How-to should take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete.
  • Groups will lead the class in completing the how-to instructions.
  • You should make note of questions/problems that occur as you present the how-to.
  • You can then take what you learned from having the class complete the how-to instructions and make changes.
  • Then turn in your final document one week after presenting to the class for your final grade.
  • How-to Project will be graded A-F with 50% of the grade based on the written document and 50% based on the class presentation.
