Audience - You will be the audience for the annotated bibliography, but you can also think about how you would explain the information you find to your fellow class members.

Purpose - As you do your ethnographic research, you will need to have some understanding of what other research relates to your question(s). It is easy to assume that when we do ethnography we can just go out and start looking for things and not worry about how what we do fits with the larger conversation about our topic. As with any research, you need to become knowledgeable to be able to put forth a good product. See the Purdue OWL website for more info on how to do annotated bibliographies. Make sure you follow the APA example (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/614/03/).

How many sources? approximately 10

What kinds of sources? You will want to include what we call academic credible sources as much as possible--books, journal articles, academic websites, but don't be afraid to use other types of sources--videos, movies, blogs, general websites, etc.

Where to go to find sources? I have put together the Literacy Resources page to help you, so I'd recommend starting there. I have also put the Cushman et. al. Literacy Sourcebook text on reserve in the library. It has chapters on many subjects. These are quick and easy resources to help you shape some context/background for your project. And I highly encourage you to use info from The Elements of Literacy and whatever text you read for the Reading Circle activity.

What format? APA style. Follow the information found on the Purdue OWL website.
