For this class you will work on a paper over the course of the semester. The term paper is used very loosely.
You may choose to write something related to visual rhetoric, but you don't have to. You will, however, use visual rhetoric to shape the final presentation of your work, with the audience of the First Year Celebration in mind. Find something you are interested in and something you think others would be interested in. Whatever topic you choose, we will look at it from at least three perspectives. I use visual rhetoric as the example below:
- Define visual rhetoric - summarizing
- Find what others are saying about visual rhetoric - analyzing
- Use what others say about visual rhetoric to add to our discussion about visual rhtoric - application
Audience - to start with think about the other students in the class
Purpose - How can you use the information you have found? What do you want your audience to do with the information?
