Make sure to give yourself enough time to do the work for both chapters. They aren't hard, but they will take a little time.

Read Chapter 2 in the Applen text. Choose 1 question from the Exercises on pg. 34 and post in the Discussion Forum

Do all of the questions for the Exercises on pg. 53. You should be able to post your file that you created and worked on to do the exercises. If you have a lot of trouble and can't do this, you can instead do a posting where you talk about what you tried to do and what you had trouble doing. The point is not to get everything perfect. The point is to do your best to work with the coding so you can develop at least some understanding of that level of what goes on when we put things on the web.

Read Chapter 3 in the Applen text. As you read through the chapter, create the files he directs you to produce. For example, the first one is inlinstylecss.html, second is firstcascadingstylesheet.css, etc. So every time he says, "Save this file as ..." you would need to create a new file. Don't worry if you can't get some parts to work the way they should. It's not important to be perfect. It's important that you get some experience working with basic coding. Do the best you can and turn in what you have. You will need to be a little creative when turning in the files. Here are some options:

  • Upload all of the files to Blackboard.
  • You can open your file manager and take a picture of the all the files you created and then upload the picture in the BB forum.
  • You can put all of the files into one zip file and upload that into BB.

Learning how to manage and share files is one important part of writing for the web, so this will give us some good practice.
