SGarza: WhatAreTraditionalTextsWhatAreWeTeachingAndReadingNow

Just like in any other issue, it is best for one to do a little research about the topic before diving in. Therefore, when researching this topic, the first thing I wanted to find out about Ethnic Literature use in the classroom, was: What is being used today? What does the High School English literary canon consists of? Who decides on what is being read in the classroom? The best information for this background research was in reading lists and textbooks lists.

The following are two sources that do just that:

Top Ten Books Taught in High Schools

Margaret E. Klein

Now that you have a better footing on such an unstable ground, you can proceed to the sources that help explain how Ethnic/multicultural literature can improve the High School English Classroom.
