• Begin by logging in to your computer and opening my homepage, as well as a blank Word document.
  • Today we'll be doing some expository writing which will count as your participation for this class, as well as being collected for research:
    • Explanation of writing study
    • Access website
      • Request for Participation
      • Biographical Information Survey
      • Writing Activity (don't close the browser window yet!)
    • Collection of samples
      • First, copy and paste the text from your Word document into the space provided in the survey.
      • Click the button marked "done" at the bottom of the page to submit your work for research.
      • Next, save the file as (lastname)Expo.doc to the desktop (it will be erased automatically when you log off the computer)
      • Last, email it to me at sean.britt@tamucc.edu (don't forget to attach the file!) for credit for today's class.

Homework

  • You'll be reading from your Writing About Writing text over the weekend, so be sure you've obtained access to a copy (you might be able to check it out from the course reserves in the library if you can't purchase or rent it yet).
    • Read Chapter 1 Intro (Texts/Constructs) on p. 34, All Writing Is Autobiography by Murray, p. 56, and Porter's Intertextuality and the Discourse Community on p. 86.
    • Watch this video of what a Literacy Autobiography might describe.
