Paraphrasing allows you to give context to your research by taking disparate information and tying to your specific claims and thesis. When using direct quotes, it's easy to rely on the information given in your source without having the ability to frame it appropriately. This is not to say that it can't be done, just that it can be trickier and the ramifications of doing poorly are more detrimental than if you had paraphrased in a less than perfect way. so i would make the argument that paraphrasing makes more sense. however, i'm sure that certain projects are more appropriate for direct quotation, just not the one for this class in particular. with that said, i would center my research around information that i could easily paraphrase. overly technical stuff in research can be hard to do this with and might be less valuable. sources that i want to quote .
