...for Dr. Moore's History exams

  • Do the study guides!
  • Don't "waste" time writing a fancy introduction/conclusion on the essay. A simple two sentence introduction with a thesis statement should suffice. Also, don't waste time writing out each term for the matching, just the letter is fine! (That's what the letters are for!)
  • Provide specific examples! Very few points -- if any -- are awarded for vague, generalized answers...
  • Time yourself (Essay ~ 30 minutes, Matching/Short Answer ~ 20 minutes)
  • Be there at 8:50am if at all possible! If not, be there at 9am sharp!
  • Outline and practice writing out the essay questions on your own. What we do in Seminar is great, but it's just the first step! (If you want to send me drafts of your essay, feel free! As long as it's before 8:00pm on Thursday evening, I promise that I'll respond!)
  • Do the study guides! (Terms and short answer questions - you can always ask me or Dr. Moore for help with terms/questions!)
  • Make sure to answer EVERY part of the essay question! (Most students can not accomplish this in under two full pages -- expect to write a lot!)
  • READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, ESPECIALLY ON THE SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS!
  • Don't skip any questions - at least TRY every answer! Partial points are better than NO points!
  • Short answer means short answer (bullet them out)
  • Get to class on time for the exam. (If an emergency comes up that causes you to have to miss the exam, there is no make-up. You simply will HAVE to take the comprehensive final exam!)
  • There is no retake for this exam. It is worth 15% of your grade.
  • Write ALL of your answers in the Blue Book -- even the matching!
  • DO THE STUDY GUIDES!
