I LOVED reading your proposals! Many of you had very poignant thoughts about the issues that inspire you to pursue a degree in Geology or Environmental Science, and it was a pleasure reading about the experiences in your lives that have led you to this point. I also really enjoyed the humor you wove into your writing, and appreciate your care to write with a "friendly" audience in mind. Even if you do not get a chance to explore further the topic you researched in Seminar, I hope that you have the opportunity through other classes (or potentially an internship or job!) to discover what you can learn and contribute to that field.

The Purpose of the Proposal

  • To identify why you are interested in the topic you picked
  • To read and explain an article you researched (a large part of what you will be presenting at the Symposium)
  • To prepare you to present your topic to your team and engage in a discussion about which topic will work for the entire group
