Project Title: Peer to Peer Database Integration using Piazza
Semester: Fall 2008
Committe Chair: Dr. Longzhuang Li
Committee Member 1: Dr. Mario Garcia
Committee Member 2: Dr. David Thomas
Project Description: The developed system manages data in the peer databases to answer queries related to several databases in the purview. Data integration tools can be used for the same purpose but they suffer from two problems- they require comprehensive schema design before they can be used (overhead) and they are difficult to be extended since they typically breakdown the backward compatibility. The developed system used coordination rules or mappings and the Query Reformulation Algorithm to manage data in the peers and provide the required data to the end user. The algorithm and coordination rules also make the system feasible and easily extendible.
