Project Title: Data Integration for the Gulf of Mexico Satellite Observations
Semester: Fall 2008
Committe Chair: Dr. Long-zhuang Li
Committee Member 1: Dr. David Thomas
Committee Member 2: Dr. Ahmed Mahdy
Project Description: Data integration is the process of combining data residing at different sources and providing the user with a unified view of these data. Data integration also known as enterprise information integration appears with increasing frequency as the volume and the need to share existing data explodes. This project integrates the data of four ocean observational systems for the Gulf of Mexico. The four ocean observational systems are: AVHRR-SST's latest 3-day’s and 7-day's averages from JHU Applied physics laboratory, Texas meteorological satellite images , satellite wind products(COAPS) and real time GOES page from the CIMSS. The data are meteorological observational images from satellites. Satellite images are taken periodically in order to observe the weather changes
