Project Title: Implementation of a Tool to Defend Wireless Networks against Unauthorized Accesses
Semester: 2 2011
Committe Chair: Dr. Mario Garcia
Committee Member 1: Dr. Hongyu Guo
Committee Member 2: Dr. David Thomas
Project Description: The rapid growth in Wireless networking brought the need for securing the wireless network which became very important today. Many existing security techniques like standard encryption methods for securing the network like WEP, WPA and WPA2 are prone to vulnerabilities and exploitation. Thus raising need for better network security. This project concentrates on different encryption standards that can be used to achieve secure networking. It also discusses the importance of wireless penetration testing and how the penetration testing is done using some tools. The main purpose of this project is to develop a tool which will monitor the network and detects the various IP addresses, ports and users that are connected in a network. By using this tool the network administrator can block selected IP addresses, ports and unauthorized users.
