Project Title: An Expert System Prototype for Health Care Advice on Influenza and Fever
Semester: 1 2015
Committe Chair: Dr. Mario Garcia
Committee Member 1: Dr. David Thomas
Committee Member 2: -
Project Description: This healthcare expert system prototype is an intelligent supporting tool that helps patients to search their symptoms, find out the possible cause and know the remedy for the cause that are related to Flu & Fever. It mainly allows the patient to analyze and gain knowledge about their medical condition without the help of the doctor. This project aims to develop a prototype expert system to diagnose the illness like Flu (Influenza) and Fever, as they are the most common health hazards. The system will take the symptoms as a query from the user and rules are defined using IF-THEN in JESS, which gives the disease as the output for the particular symptoms. This system allows backward search that is when the symptoms are given it yields the possible disease and when the disease is given, it gives the symptoms and information related to the treatment/remedies for that disease. JESS tool is used to define the rules for the searching purpose when the symptoms are given. If there is no result for the given symptoms in the defined rules, then the system allows to search online in the trusted websites like Mayo clinic, Symcat. The main aim of the system is to provide a better access and a user-friendly interface to understand the medical conditions in order to adopt a long-term health management style.
